Ask yourself: 'Do I really need Personal Training?'

You may be thinking:

"Why should I pay extra for a personal trainer when I can
go to the gym or work out at home without one?"

The response to this is very simple. Will you receive one-to-one training at your gym or at home? Will your personal training schedule be developed to suit you, aiming to achieve your goals in a way that you enjoy and a way that will maximise results? Are you happy to be given a programme designed for the majority of the population? Will your gym monitor your progress, provide advanced physical tests, and modify your training programme to suit the results? Will you be able to get motivated to train on dark winter mornings or evenings? and finally... can you give yourself a thorough workout, using the best home training equipment currently available, without having to pay expensive gym membership? If the answer to any of these questions is NO then the personal training offered by First Step Fitness and Health is for you.

You can contact us to receive a medical screening form. This is a simple form, designed to provide basic information about yourself so that a solid background can be gained before your specific programme is designed.

If you complete and return this form we can then arrange a consultation date at a time which suits you, and we can gather further details to ensure your individual programme will suit you. During this consultation both static and dynamic tests will be carried out to ensure that you are physically ready for a training programme to be administered. These include heart rate, blood pressure and lung function. (Depending upon your aims others may be included).

Ask yourself:

"How do I know I am getting the best possible training?"

All of our personal trainers have completed a Diploma in Personal Training. This does not simply provide them with a certificate but real, usable, essential knowledge on how to design training programmes in the real world for real people.

At present the U.K. government, along with the fitness industry, recognises three levels of personal trainer. All First Step trainers are qualified to level 3 (Advanced), the highest current level achievable.

All trainers have an extensive knowledge in the following areas:

  • The Skeletal, Neuromuscular, Circulatory and Respiratory System
  • Muscles, their actions and how to optimise training.
  • Nutrition
  • Resistance Machines and Free Weights
  • Programme design for special populations, such as diabetics, individuals with high blood pressure, pre and post natal females and sufferers of Orthopaedic conditions.
  • Many more!

Safety

At First Step Fitness and Health we feel that safety is the main priority for each and every session. For this reason we make it a compulsory requirement for our trainers to also be qualified in first aid. All trainers also carry £5 million public liability insurance.

"How much will I have to pay and will it be worth it?"

First Step Fitness and Health prides itself on value for money. We feel that the services we provide, and the benefits that you will receive are priceless. Is it possible to place a price on a better standard of life and a decreased chance of diseases such as Coronary Heart Disease and Hypertension (high blood pressure)? We think the answer is most definitely NO!

Personal Training prices are based on two main factors. The first of these is location, for example how far we will have to travel to train you. Secondly, is again dependent upon location. Do you want to be trained at home, work or in a gym of which you are a member? Prices are available on application.
